Jimmy's Answer to Cancer/Jaime Lucha Contra el Cáncer 

One night Jimmy woke up.  Once again he felt sickly.

     "Mom!" Jimmy yelled, "You'd better come quickly!"

     His mom checked his throat, his ears, and his head.

     "It's time for the doctor," his worried mom said.

 

     The good doctor prodded, he pondered and poked.

     He looked grim and cranky, but still the man joked.

     "The problem, my boy, is too much baloney.

     You ate too many egg rolls, and too much ravioli.

     To help you get well, you’ll go on a diet

      You must only eat candy. Tell your mom she should buy it!"

 

     Jimmy knew he should laugh, but something was wrong.

     Though the doctor was smiling, his face had grown long.

"In truth," said the doctor, "I must run a test.

You may need some pills and a whole lot of rest.

You'll go to the clinic for a full body scan.

We'll find out what's wrong, then we’ll fix what we can."

Jaime se despertó en la noche, otra vez enfermito. 

“¡Mamá!” gritó Jaime. “¡Ven rapidito!”                    

 Le revisó la boca, los oídos y la frente.  

"Al médico", dijo. "¡Inmediatamente!"    

 

El doctor le midió, le tocó y le examinó.

Pareció preocupado pero bromeó:          

“El problema, hijito, es tu dieta saludable.  

Hay que nutrirte con comida más agradable.“      

 

“Te receto comer puro azúcar y chocolate

Dulces y pasteles...¡Qué tu mama te los compre!"

A pesar de su manera tan ligera y genial,

Jaime sospechó que algo estuvo mal. 

“En serio”, el médico dijo. “No hay problemas culinarios.

Hay que sacar unos exámenes laboratorios.

Vas a la clínica para conseguir los estudios.

Cuando lleguen los resultados, te busco los remedios”.
