Earthships Poems by Dr. Sonna

bury the why

sing of sunbeams     bogs     sage,

dance     in starlight     fog,      rage

at shadows     smog     moon,

leap          stumble          swoon,

turn another leaf      page     corner,

hope     sigh     cry

but bury the why     bury the why

praise spirits sore or soaring

praise laughter fierce or roaring

praise teardrops soft or pouring

praise the journey sacred

praise life.

The Prophetess

                                - In honor of Kahlil Gibran

And they said unto her, speak to us of wisdom.

And she said,

Even as a sparrow's wing brushes stillness from the air and truth is heard,

so too, from wordless whispers of an open heart, may you grow wise.

Heed the wisdom of prophets, but do not seek in them the well-spring of perfect knowing.

For though their visions may lead the blind from darkness,

be not like the blind man who must look to another to wrench the shadows from his night.

For the light that guides one to light may lose the next inside a denser fog.

If you wish the guidance of another, more sagacious soul,

be ever mindful of the words of madmen,

and those the world proclaims as fools.

For they who are not of the world, though in it,

are blessed with clearer vision than the rest.

And though you seek to grow in knowing,

make not a god of wisdom gleaned upon the way,

that you may know the lies hidden at the core of every well-known fact.

Instead, let your truth be the endless searching that is the fate of all the truly wise.
